Florida Should be Two States

Let's talk about something else for a few minutes.
The idea of splitting Florida into two states was floated out there about a month ago. This comes up once in a while. This time it got some media attention, at least locally. At issue was the fact that south Florida puts more money into the state than we get back. Financially, north Florida is like one huge welfare recipient. It would not be such a crazy thing to do.
What got into your head today you might be asking. Where did that one come from. There's a news article in the Miami Herald about plans to fly a confederate flag near Tampa.
I saw that and thought "WTF?". To quote some Bush recent administration folks, I was puzzled. South Florida is so far removed from things like this. It would NEVER EVER occur to anyone in south Florida to do something like this. Now, if you read the article, the group says the flag is a source of pride for descendants of Confederate soldiers. Needless to say, they have some opposition. But it's on private land, and they are entitled to fly whatever flag they want.
But it goes to show that the division of thought process between people in the northern part of the state and the southern part of the state. And that is a bigger reason to split off from that crowd than money. The fact that we will get to keep our money will just be a bonus.
I'm proposing that they get to keep the name Florida. We will get a new name.
One downside to this is that the newly formed state will be elections challenged. This is because it will include Palm Beach (butterfly ballot) county, Broward county and Dade(recount) county. We will try to get that fixed, but don't hold your breath.
Do you have any ideas for the name of the new state?
